If you paid bail directly to the court, you will receive your money back whether you are found guilty or not as long as you appeared in court. Bail is money paid to the court as a guarantee that you will appear in court on the scheduled day; it is not a fine or fee.
Are Bail Bonds Refunded?
Yes, you receive your bail money back if you pay the court directly. If you hired a bondsman or bail bond company, the cash you gave them up in advance to cover the entire bail amount is their property, and you cannot get your money back. Therefore, if your court-ordered bail amount is $2,500 and you pay a bail bond firm 10% of that amount, or $250, they will post the full $2,500 on your behalf and charge you $250 as their fee.
