- Or let the offender stay behind bars until they meet with a court.

If you are willing to pay the full bond fee to have someone released from custody, you must make sure that they appear in court as scheduled so you can get your money back and everyone is satisfied.
The defendant must appear in court for the same reason if you use a bonding company to pay the bail bond on your behalf. The bonding business is liable for the full bail sum if the defendant skips bail and doesn’t show up for court. However, since you signed the bail bond as a co-signer, this financial responsibility will now fall on you.
All that is expected of you is a “guarantee” that the defendant will appear in court at the conclusion of the case; if they don’t, you will be liable for the whole bail amount.
It is a requirement of their contract that they check-in, and we have methods of finding them and putting them before the court. When they don’t, we search for them and imprison them. It’s quite unlikely for someone to get away from justice.
Additionally, a bail bond company wants to be certain that you have the resources necessary to pay the whole bail sum in the event that the offender fails to appear in court.

- a valid driving permit
- evidence of residency, such as a lease or a recent utility bill
- Proof of your income
