Paying your bond in full does not cancel it, rather, it fulfills your obligation. Once you pay your bond in full, you are released from jail under the agreement that you will appear for all court proceedings. If you meet all your court obligations, the bond money will be returned to you at the end of your case. However, if you fail to appear, the court keeps the money and the bond is considered forfeited.
