What Does It Mean To Serve Without Bond

“Serving without bond” typically means that an individual is held in custody without the option of posting bail or being released on bond while awaiting trial. In such cases, the court has determined that the individual poses a significant flight risk, danger to the community, or risk of committing additional offenses if released on bail. As a result, the individual remains in custody until their case is resolved, either through trial or plea negotiations. Serving without bond is also sometimes referred to as being held “remand” or “detention pending trial.”
